The authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Wednesday held a scientific conference marking ‘University Research Day-2019’ at Shaheed Dr Milon Hall on the campus.
BSMMU vice chancellor Professor Kanak Kanti Barua presided over the programme inaugurated by Health Minister Zahid Malik as the chief guest.
After the inauguration Zahid Malik said that the incumbent government is very sincere to encourage the professors, doctors, researchers and specialists to conduct research relating to their own field.
“We have already increased the allocation for research in the budget and plan to raise it further in the next budget session,” the health minister added.
Chairman of Bangladesh Medical Research Council and Prime Minister's former advisor on health and social welfare Syed Modasser Ali, BSMMU Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Dr M Shahidullah Sikder, Pro Vice Chancellor (Admin) Dr Shahana Akter Rahman and Treasurer Dr Mohammad Atiqur Rahman were also present at the programme among others.
