BSM Conference on Food, Health and Energy held at DU

The 33rd Annual Conference of Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) was held today December 26, 2019 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference. The Department of Microbiology of DU and BSM jointly organized this conference with a theme of “Newer approaches in Microbiology: Food, Health and Energy”. 

Chairman of Conference Organizing Committee Prof Dr Md Majibur Rahman presided over the inaugural session while President of BSM Prof Dr M A Malek and Secretary Prof  Dr  Sabita Rezwana Rahman addressed it. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for introducing new approaches in microbiological research on food, health and energy in the country.  He urged the microbiologists to play an effective role in producing hygienic foods and improving the quality of our life. He emphasized on introducing eco-friendly farming systems to preserve biodiversity and protect natural environment. 

 It may be mentioned that academicians and researchers from Bangladesh, Japan, Canada, Malaysia and India participated in the conference.
