British council honours students with Scholars’ Award

The British Council hosted the prestigious 'British Council Scholars' Award' on November 12, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka. The event celebrated the remarkable achievements of 36 students who excelled in their May/June 2024 Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel exams (O Levels/IGCSE/International GCSE), administered by the British Council for UK exam boards.

These exceptional students achieved outstanding results across various subjects, making them some of the highest achievers nationally. Their success reflects their hard work, dedication, and the strong support of their schools. British Council Country Director Stephen Forbes inaugurated the event, congratulating the students on their dedication and outstanding results. He highlighted the global recognition these qualifications bring and wished them success in their future endeavors. Maxim Raimann, Exams Director Bangladesh, emphasized how the award motivates students to reach excellence and inspires their peers.

The event also gathered 150 school leaders from 189 partner schools, offering a platform for collaboration on enhancing the British curriculum in Bangladesh. Regional Business Development Director for English and Exams in South Asia, Talal Meer, discussed the British Council's ongoing support for students' futures.

In addition to certificates and crests, the British Council announced a sponsorship for each awarded student, covering one subject in their first AS level exam. Award recipient Fariha Tasnim expressed gratitude for the recognition, thanking her teachers, family, and peers.

­The event concluded with a performance by musician Masha Islam, and a vote of thanks from Sarwat Reza, Director of Business Development, British Council Bangladesh.
