Country Director of British Council, Bangladesh Tom Miscioscia called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Tuesday at the latter’s office of the university.
Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam was present on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed various issues relating to further enhancement of collaboration and cooperation between the University of Dhaka and British Council. The possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic, research as well as skill development programs being conducted by the University of Dhaka and British Council are also discussed.
DU VC informed British Council Director that Dhaka University has many MoUs with various universities in UK and under these MoUs joint collaborative academic and research activities have been going on. He laid emphasis on providing short-term training and academic programs for DU young faculty members at UK universities under the sponsorship of British Council. British Council Director Tom Miscioscia informed DU VC that British Council is very much interested to strengthen its ongoing partnership and collaboration programmes with DU. He said, British Council is going to observe its 70th founding anniversary in Bangladesh in 2021. Marking this occasion number of commonwealth scholarship for Bangladeshi students specially DU ones will be increased. He further said, British Council will organize a symposium on higher education in February next year in Dhaka. In this regard he sought support and cooperation from Professor Akhtaruzzaman assured British Council Director of providing all sorts of help and cooperation in strengthening partnership and collaboration activities between DU and British Council.
Professor Akhtaruzzaman thanked the British Council Director for his visit to and keen interest in enhancing academic collaboration with DU.
