President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Faruque Ahmed informed that they (BCB) are expected to begin the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) cricket 2024-25 from December 27. The earlier decision of starting the BPL was December 24 and only three days deferred from the fresh schedule.
The final of the 7-team tournament will be held on February 7, 2025 when the BCB confirmed it after the board meeting on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the board yet to release the complete fixtures of the matches even though the date of opening and final match was fixed.
The franchisees teams have already arranged their squads while the players’ draft was held on October 14.
This time the four times champions and the reigning runners up team Comilla Victorians withdrew their name from the BPL due to political change. Among the old franchises, Sylhet Strikers, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders and the current champion Fortune Barisal will play in this edition of the BPL.
Chittagong Kings, who participated in the first two seasons and were runners of the second edition in 2013, returned after after 11 years to the country’s only franchise tournament when the Dhaka Capitals and Durbar Rajshahi have joined the BPL again.
