A 12-year-old boy was killed in a road accident at Bhatoi Bazar area under Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Abir Hossain, 12, son of Sanu Biswash, resident of Chardudhshar area of the Upazila.
Police and local sources said Abir came to Bhatoi Bazar with his grandmother to sell a goat. A goods laden truck knocked him down in the area while he was standing on the road, leaving him dead on the spot. Later, police recovered his body and sent it to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Shailkupa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Safiqul Islam Chaudhury confirmed the matter and said police nabbed the truck driver and seized the truck. A case is being filed in this connection.
