Director Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's film "Boli" (The Wrestler) recently garnered international acclaim at the Shanghai International Film Festival, featured in the International Panorama category.
Accompanied by actor AKM Itmam, the director arrived in Shanghai last Tuesday to attend the festival and engage in a lively question-and-answer session following the film's screenings.
Reflecting on the experience, Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury remarked from Shanghai, "It was fascinating to witness the enthusiastic reception of 'Boli' by the Chinese audience. They showed keen interest in the rules and traditions of Chattogram's traditional Boli game and were moved by Mahi Sawar's story. Their questions were insightful and heartfelt."
"Boli" was screened three times during the ongoing festival, which concludes on June 23.
Funded by a government grant in the 2020–21 fiscal year, "Boli" is produced by Piplu R. Khan, with Saiful Azim and Gausul Alam Shaon serving as co-producers. Bangladeshi actor Nasir Uddin Khan portrays the lead role in this compelling drama.
