Police recently recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified person floating in a canal in Teknaf Municipality in Cox's Bazar.
Teknaf Police OC Muhammad Osman Gani said that the dead body was recovered from Kayukkhali canal in Islamabad area of Teknaf Municipality on Wednesday afternoon.
Although the name and identity of the deceased could not be confirmed, his age is estimated to be between 20 and 30 years.
However, the police believe that the victim died 4/5 days ago.
Osman Goni said, a local fisherman named Abul Hossain was fishing in Kayukkhali canal in Islamabad area of Teknaf municipality on Wednesday afternoon. At one stage, he saw a dead body floating in the canal and informed the police. Later, the police reached the spot and recovered the body with the help of locals.
"The skin of the deceased was removed from different parts of the body. In addition to disfiguring his face, his body swelled up. It is also not clear whether there are any marks of injury on the body of the victim.
He is believed to have died 4/5 days ago. "
The OC said the death was a mere accident; Or the police could not be sure of the murder. The police are investigating into the matter.
Muhammad Osman Gani said that the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
