Body of ‘top drug peddler Kalam’ recovered from Ganges in India

Body of the member of International Smugglers' Syndicate and notorious drug trader Kalam Molla was found floating on the river Ganges near Bagha frontier in India. 

Kalam Molla, son of Aksed Molla of Helalpur Village of Bagha went  missing three-days ago. Relatives of Kalam recovered his floating body from the River Ganges at Tultulipara area under Jalangi Police Station of Murshidabad district in West Bengal on Tuesday morning.  

Sources said Kalam Molla earned huge money and assets through smuggling. Twenty cases were filed against him with Bagha, Charghat, Ishwardi, Lalpur, Sirajganj and Tongi Police Stations. He was wanted as top smuggler. 

A source of Bagha Police Station said in May last year, police arrested two drug peddlers Aslam and Masud with 108,000 pieces of Yaba on their way back from Chittagong.  

The arrested peddlers informed the name of Kalam Molla as the owner of the yaba. After the incident, Kalam Molla fled to India and started to control drug syndicate of Bangladesh staying over there.

On Saturday noon, Indian Border Security Force chased Kalam Molla when he was going to Ghartola BSF camp along with his Indian friend Chan Miah.

Being chased by BSF, both Kalam Molla and Chan Miah jumped into the River Ganges. Later, Chan Mia managed to swim ashore but Kalam Molla went  missing. Officer-in-Charge of Bagha Police Station Nazrul Islam informed that at least 20 cases were filed against Kalam Molla with different police stations.
