Police recovered the body of a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) from a student mess in Sylhet on Thursday morning.
The mess was located close to the main gate of the university.
Arif Miah, a student of the 2020-21 academic session of the sociology department, was from Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj.
Azbahar Ali Sheikh, deputy commissioner (north) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said, "We are primarily suspecting that he died by suicide.
But we have to wait for the autopsy report to have a clear answer."
Dr Md Qumruzzaman Chowdhury, proctor of the Sust, said, "Informed by other students, I went to the spot with police around 6:00am.
Police recovered his body and sent to hospital where his autopsy was done."
He said the student's family members have arrived in Sylhet to receive the body.
