Body of robber recovered

The police recovered the body of a bandit identified as Mohammad Rafiq with bullet wounds from Gohin Pahar in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.

Teknaf police station OC Mohammad Osman Gani said the dead body was recovered from the barren hill of Alikhali area of Hnila union of Teknaf upazila on Tuesday evening.

The deceased Mohammad Rafiq (32) is the son of Mohammad Yunuch of Rangikhali area of Hnila Union in Teknaf.

According to the police, Mohammad Rafiq is a known robber. 

There are more than 5 cases against him in Teknaf police station on various charges including murder, kidnapping and weapons.

Osman Gani said about the deceased's wife and locals that Mohammad Rafiq was missing for the last 4/5 days. 

His two wives; Among them, the elder wife lives in Thwaingakata area of Khuniapalong union of Ramu upazila and the younger wife lives in Mochni Rohingya camp of Teknaf upazila. 

After his disappearance, Mohammad Rafiq was searched in various possible places but could not be found.

"On Tuesday afternoon, Rafiq's younger wife received information from the locals that a dead body of a bullet-ridden man was lying on the hill of Alikhali area of Hnila Union in Teknaf. Later she went to the spot and identified her husband's body. "

The OC said, "After getting information from the locals, a police team went to the spot and recovered the dead body with bullet wounds. Police believe that Mohammad Rafiq was shot at point blank range by the gunshot wounds. Somehow the miscreants killed him and fled leaving the body behind. "

"However, the police are still not sure who and why this murder happened. In this regard, the police are carrying out an operation to identify and arrest those involved in the incident. Police believe that rival criminals may have killed him due to internal conflict or dominance. "

Osman Gani said that Mohammad Rafiq is a member of organized robbers. He was involved in abducting common people from Rohingya camps and surrounding areas and holding hostages in barren hills for ransom. If someone refused to pay the ransom, they killed and disappeared the body. There are more than 5 cases against him in the police station on various charges including murder, robbery, kidnapping and weapons.

He said that the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
