Police recovered the body of a housewife who committed suicide by hanging herself 'due to family quarrel' in Ukhia Upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The husband is absconding in this incident.
The incident took place in Tulatali area of Ward No. 4 of Ratnapalong Union of Ukhia Upazila on Thursday afternoon, said the OC of Ukhia Police Station. Shamim Hossain.
Deceased Rima Akhtar (25) is the wife of Mohammad Bahadur of the same area.
According to the locals, Shamim Hossain said that around 12 o'clock on Thursday, the locals reported that a housewife committed suicide by hanging herself due to a family dispute in Tulatali area of Ratnapalong Union of Ukhia.
Later, a police team reached the spot and found the dead body hanging with a fan in the bedroom of the house.
The housewife's husband is absconding since the incident.
Initially, there was information that the suicide occurred due to a family dispute, but the real reason is not yet known, said the OC.
Regarding the neighbors, Oli Ahmad, a member of Ward No. 4 of Ratnapalong UP, said that there was a marital dispute between Rima Akhtar and her husband Mohammad Bahadur for a long time.
There was often a quarrel between them.
On Wednesday night and Thursday morning, there was an incident between them.
As a result of this, sometime in the morning, Rima Akhtar committed suicide by hanging a veil with a fan in the bedroom of Akhtar's house, said a local UP member.
OC Shamim Hossain said that the body of the deceased has been sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
