In the 12th National Assembly elections, 10 candidates are contesting in Munshiganj-3 seat, but the main contest will be held between Boat and Scissor.

Visiting the different areas of the Munshiganj-3 constituencies, candidates with boat and scissor symbols were seen not following the electoral code of conduct, 2008.

Section 10 (d) of these rules states that a candidate shall not set up more than one election camp in each union and more than one in each ward of each municipality or city corporation area, irrespective of the office of the party and associate organizations. But going around municipalities and unions, it is seen that campaigns are being conducted by setting up multiple election camps in each union and multiple election camps in municipal wards.

Boat and scissor marker camps were seen in Baralia, Nahapara, Bajroyoginibazar, Bhanga and Ramsinghe in Bajryogini union of Munshiganj Sadar upazila. In Rampal Union, Dhalagao Bazar, next to Rampal College, Hatimara and Balalbari areas have set up boat and scissor symbol camps. Camps of boats and scissors were seen in front of Nayagaon Pagla shrine in Panchsar union, next to Baghbari graveyard, Ferighat area, Naunggaon, Dayalbazar area. Multiple camps have been set up in the same ward of Munshiganj municipality. Election camps of boats and scissors were seen at Munsirhat, Panchghariakandi, Namkandi, South Islampur, North Islampur, Manikpur, Hospital Road, Old Bus Stand. In addition, campaigning is being carried out by setting up boat and scissors marker camps in other unions of Ghazaria and Sadar Upazila. Clause (c) of section 10 of these rules states that no kind of lighting can be done with the help of electricity as part of the election campaign. But it has been seen that almost every camp has kept the light and sound system on using the electricity connection.

Section 13 of these rules states that any candidate or any person on behalf of a candidate shall restrict the use of any other device that increases the noise level in the election area between 2 (two) in the afternoon and 8 (eight) in the night. But it appears that campaigns are being conducted on sound systems in high ¯^ray camps before or after the scheduled time.

In this regard, Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Afifa Khan said, we are taking action as soon as we receive the complaint. Action will be taken if anyone violates the code of conduct.
