Agriculture Minister and Awami League presidium member Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzak said that BNP, anti-independence forces and some intellectuals want to see the country cry for food or face a famine.
They think that there will be famine in the land, people will die on the streets without food, and with that movement Sheikh Hasina's government will fall.
We have all kinds of preparations and programs. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has increased food production in the country despite giving utmost importance to food security. Record amounts of food are stored,” he said.
Moreover, the PM is on the side of the people with food cooperation. Therefore, as long as Sheikh Hasina is in power, there will never be food crisis or famine in the country he said.
The Agriculture Minister said this while distributing food items and clothes among the helpless and destitute on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at Shampur Model School ground in the capital on Friday morning. Dhaka South Awami League organized the event.
The minister said BNP alliance, anti-independence forces and some intellectuals also wanted to see Bangladesh's failure in dealing with the pandemic. However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has thwarted their demand by dealing with the pandemic very successfully.
Now the whole world, including the UN World Health Organization, is saying that Bangladesh is a role model in dealing with the pandemic. Bangladesh today is not only a role model of development, but also a role model in tackling Covid-19, said the minister.
The minister said, Awami League is always on the brink of disaster for the people of the country, the BNP never stays, the minister said, adding that Khaleda Zia-Tarique Rahman looted the country while in power, made money, spent it for their own enjoyment and smuggled abroad, didn't stand by people when needed. On the other hand, the Awami League and its leaders and workers have always stood by the people and helped them.
Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Dhaka South Awami League General Secretary Humayun Kabir, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Azahar spoke on the occasion.
