Local units of Bangladesh Nationalists Party (BNP) and its front organizations will guard all the mandaps of Saradiya Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, in the city and the division.
At the direction of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, they already formed 'Peace, Discipline and Security committee' in each district, upazila, union, ward and puja mondap in all eight districts under Rajshahi division to mark the durgotsab.
Leaders and conveners of Rajshahi district committee of Peace, Discipline and Security revealed this while addressing a press conference titled "Peace, Discipline and Security" at a city restaurant today.
Organizing secretary of BNP National Committee Advocate Shahin Shawkat, district joint convener Shaiful Islam Marshal and convener of the committee Prof Biswanath Sarker at spoke the press conference.
Local unit BNP leaders Debashish Roy Madhu, Jahan Panna, Rokonuzzaman Alam, Golam Mostofa Mamun, Tofayel Raju, Sultanul Islam Tareque and Alamin Sarker also spoke.
Advocate Shahin Shawkat told the journalists that they will adopt all possible measures to ensure peace and security in all the puja mandaps for the successful celebration of the festival.
"We have already arranged steps of guarding the mandaps from sashti to dashami side by side with the law enforcing agencies," he said, adding monitoring teams will also work.
