BNP's quest for ‘but’ in the country’s health sector is an expression of their misery, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.
He made the remarks while responding to questions from reporters at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital on Friday morning.
On the occasion of World Health Day on April 7, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the country's health system is completely broken.
Regarding this statement, the Information Minister said that he would like to ask Mirza Fakhrul if the health sector is destroyed, then how the health sector of Bangladesh coped with the three waves of coronavirus effectively, in a far better way than many developed countries.
Hasan Mahmud said, “The World Health Organization and the Secretary-General of the United Nations have also praised us, only Mirza Fakhrul and his associates do not praise us. Mirza Fakhrul's statement on the health sector is an expression of the misery of the BNP in every issue.”
In response to a question about the increasing prices of daily commodities he said that the prices of daily necessities have been declining for the last few days.
“Prices of everything from onions and vegetables to chickens are on the decline. The government is monitoring, we are determined to take strict action against dishonest traders,” he added.
The Minister said, “It is sad but true that the BNP and its allies are criticizing the government on the one hand for increasing commodity prices and on the other hand encouraging dishonest traders who are syndicating to stockpile their goods and increasing commodity prices.”
He mentioned that despite various conspiracies, the prices of commodities are now declining due to various measures taken by the government.
