A Dhaka Court has placed seven individuals, including BNP Chairperson's special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, on a four-day remand each in connection with a case of vandalism at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) Bhaban in the capital’s Rampura.
The other accused are Saiful Alam Nirob, convener of BNP's Dhaka North City unit; Rafiqul Alam Majnu, convener of BNP's Dhaka South City unit; former BNP lawmaker M Rashiduzzaman Millat; Mohiuddin Hridoy, senior joint convener of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal of Ward No-19 unit; Syed Ehsanul Huda, chairman of Jatiya Dal; and BNP leader Md Tariqul Islam.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam issued the remand order on Monday.
Mohammad Yasin Shikder, an inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police and the investigation officer of the case, appealed for a seven-day remand.
Earlier, the accused were shown arrested in the case following an appeal by the IO. They had previously completed a five-day remand in connection with a case involving the vandalism and arson attack on Setu Bhaban on July 18
