Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) in collaboration with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, distributed blankets to more than 500 poor people.
CCC Mayor and City Crescent Chairman Freedom Fighter Md. Rezaul Karim was present as the chief guest in the function at a community center of the port city on Saturday.
While addressing the event as the chief guest, the CCC Mayor said, Red Crescent has set an example by standing the poor people. From natural calamities to humanitarian crises – the Red Crescent has always fought bravely alongside the people. The activities of the Red Crescent encourage humanitarian service to the able-bodied sections of the society.Chittagong City Red Crescent Secretary Abdul Jabbar conducted the ceremony with City Red Crescent Vice Chairman Alamgir Parvez in the chair.
Councillor Ashraful Alam, Esrarul Haque, Mayor's Private Secretary Abul Hashem, City Red Crescent Executive Council Member Mosharful Haque Chowdhury Pavel, Unit Level Officer Abdur Rahim Ankan and Chittagong City Youth Red Crescent's youth chief ANM Tamjeed were present on the occasion.
BSS from Bogura adds: A total of 500 blankets were distributed among the poor, cold- affected people of railway station area under Sadar upazila of the district Friday night from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Saiful Islam handed over the blankets as the chief guest in the Railway Station area under Sadar upazila of the district .
