Blankets distributed among cold-hit people in five dists

Different government and non-government organisations (NGOs) distributed blankets among the cold-stricken poor people on Tuesday.

Police Nari Kallyan Samity distributed blankets among 300 people in a function held at Chapainawabganj district police lines drill-shed Tuesday afternoon. 

Superintendent of police of Chapainawabganj Md Saidul Hasan distributed the blankets as the chief guest while president of the organisation Nazifa Ali Promy presided over it. Panama Sonamasjid Portlink Limited and Kaliar Replica and Kaliar Packaging Limited distributed blankets among 2,200 labourers and madrasha students at Sonamasjid Land Port in Shibganj upazila of the district.

Law maker Chapainawabganj1 (Shibganj) constituency Dr Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul attended the distribution function as the chief guest.

On the other hand, non-government organisation Ghasful distributed blankets among 100 aborigine women in Nachole upazila in the district with the financial assistance of Shahjalal Islami Bank.

Another reports says: Two organisations distributed blankets among poor cold-hit people of Chapainawabganj district on Monday as the temperature continuous to decrease.

Chairman of Chapainawabganj Zila Parishad Bir Muktijoddha Md. Ruhul Amin distributed the blankets at a function arranged on the premises of Nawabganj Club in the town as the chief guest, organised by Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS). Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Chapainawabganj sadar Tasmina Khatun attended the function as the chief guest with Executive Director of the organisation Monjurul Islam Babu Khan in the chair. Area Manager of BURO Bangladesh Masud Rana, District Co-ordinator of BRAC Momena Khatun, Area Manager of United Development Initiatives for Programmed Actions- UDDIPAN Md. Isahaq Ali and Deputy Project Manager of Sheba Foundation Nuruzzaman were present, among others.

Netrakona Correspondent says: The government has allocated a total of 49,070 blankets for the cold-stricken poor people of ten upazilas and five municipalities in the district as the entire district has been experiencing severe cold wave for the last seven days.

District Relief and Disaster Management Department sources said, meanwhile, district administration has received all the blankets, which was allocated from the prime minister's relief fund and sent these to the Upazila authorities and municipality mayors for distribute.

Of the blankets, 2,500 have already been distributed among the inmates of the orphanage children, autistic children, poor Madrasha students and floating people by the Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Shahed Parvez, the sources added.

Manikganj Correspondent writes: The government has allocated 34,840 blankets for the cold stricken poor people at all seven upazilas of the district to mitigate their sufferings, District Relief and Disaster Management office sources said here today.   District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) Shahidul Islam said the government has allocated 520 blankets for each of the 65 unions and two municipalities in the district, adding that they first allocated 27,470 blankets have already been distributed according to the lists of union councils and approved by the Upazila Parishads.

The second allotments of 7370 blankets are being distributed. DRRO said the poor and specially shelter less people who are the victims are being benefited to get the blankets.

BSS from Khulna adds:  Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque distributed blankets and winter clothes among the poor and cold-hit people in Khulna city on Monday night.  

“The Awami League government always stands by the side of the helpless and distressed people. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly with a view to improve the fate of the poverty-stricken people,” Talukder Khaleque said this while distributing blankets and winter clothes among the poor people. Bogura Correspondent adds: A total of 200 blankets were distributed from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund among the cold-affected poor and helpless people of non-Bengalis living in Latifpur Colony of the district town Monday night.
