BKMEA President urged NBR to digitize the export-import process and make it smoother as well as make the process free from corruption.
Mohammad Hatem, the new President of BKMEA made the call during a visit to the NBR Chairman at the NBR offic, Agargaon, Dhaka.
BKMEA Executive president Fazlee Shamim Ehsan other senor office bearers of the body were present.
The leaders urged the Chairman to create a business-friendly environment free from bribery and corruption in an amicable discussion. Through a letter they informed the existing customs, income tax and VAT issues in the knitwear sector and submitted a proposal to the NBR Chairman.
BKMEA president said, we have been suffering from unnecessary harassment for a long time by the customs and bond officers, especially RO and AROs, at Chattogram port on export-import issues.
To get rid of this situation, he called on the NBR Chairman to digitize the export-import process and make it smoother as well as make the process free from corruption.
NBR will develop a mobile app to address the allegations and create a taskforce to solve these issues, said NBR chairman.
This is a new Bangladesh and corruption has no place here, he added at the meeting. He sought the cooperation of the stakeholders of this sector in this regard.
BTMA president Showkat Aziz Russell, BTTLMEA chairman Hossain Mehmood and Ex-Chairman M Shahadat Hossain Sohel was present at the meeting. They also raised their voice against the corruption in the same issues.
