Among international cricket expert fans of Bangladesh cricket, the names Ian Bishop and Harsha Bhogle are well-known. Both have spent considerable time in the commentary box discussing Bangladeshi players on the international stage. When Bangladeshi batsmen Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz set a world record partnership on Pakistani soil, both Bishop and Bhogle were keenly observing the action.
After Bangladesh lost six wickets for just 26 runs, Litton and Miraz stood as an impenetrable wall against the Pakistani bowlers. On the third day, Bangladesh lost six wickets for just 16 runs. In this dire situation, Litton and Miraz came to the crease and built a resilient partnership. They played some excellent shots and scored runs steadily, putting together a 165-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
Miraz was dismissed for 78 runs off 124 balls, breaking the partnership. By then, Litton and Miraz had already set a world record. This was the highest seventh-wicket partnership in the 147-year history of Test cricket after losing the sixth wicket for less than 50 runs.
Following this partnership, Caribbean legend Ian Bishop praised the two Bangladeshi batsmen. Bishop highlighted the inspiration they provided to their country, saying, "The fight and spirit I see from the Bangladesh team is wonderful. Such performances at a time when their country needs heroes the most are truly inspiring."
Harsha Bhogle has long been a fan of Litton Das. He expressed his admiration for the centurion batsman and also praised Miraz, saying, "At this moment, Bangladesh's two best cricketers (Miraz and Litton) have given their team a great chance to win the series. I have often said that Litton is Bangladesh's best batsman in white-ball cricket. I hope this Test century will raise his expectations even further."
