Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad’s 49th death anniv today

The 49th death anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh will be observed at Nur Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur union of Narail today (Saturday). 

The Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh trust and Narail district administration will take various programmes to mark the death anniversary.

The programmes will begin with Qurankhani at morning, placing of floral wreaths at the  Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh portrait, guard of honour and Doa Mahfil will be held in the Nur Mohammad Sheikh Memorial Museum and Library auditorium at Nur Mohammad Nagar which was earlier known as Mahiskhola where he was born,was named after him in his honour under Chandibarpur union in Narail sadar upazila of the district.

Deputy Commissioner  of Narail who also president of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh trust Anjuman Ara expected will present as cheif guest while Police Super Md. Jasim Uddin PPM, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-general) Md.Yarul Islam ,Narail sadar UNO Salma Selim,Freedom fighter Advocate SM Matin will be present as special guests.Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust’s member secretary and Chandibarpur Union Parishad Chairman Azizur Rahman Bhuyan  will presided over the function. 

Nur Mohammad Sheikh was born on February 2 in 1936 at Mahiskhola village (present name Nur Mohammad Nagar) in Narail sadar upazila.He joined then East Pakistan Rifles (EPR), which is now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB),on February 26,1959.He later joined the independence war in 1971. He was killed on September 5,1971 at Goalhati in Sharsha upazila of Jashore by the then Pakistan army.
