The 48th death anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh will be observed at Nur Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur union of Narail district on Thursday.
Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust and Narail district administration jointly organised various programmes to mark the death anniversary.
The programmes will begin with placing floral wreaths at the Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh portrait, Qurankhani, Doa Mahfil, Essay Competition, Art Competition and discussion meeting on the life of Nur Mohammad Sheikh and prize distribution will be held at the Nur Mohammad Sheikh Memorial Museum and Library Auditorium at Nur Mohammad Nagar.
Deputy Commissioner of Narail and President of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust Anjuman Ara will be present at the programme as chief guest while Superintendent of Police Md. Jashim Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Yarul Islam, Narail Sadar Upazila UNO Salma Selim, Former District Muktijoddha Commander Golam Kabir, Nur Mohammad Sheikh
Trust’s Member Secretary who is also Chandibarpur Union Parishad Chairman Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan and Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh’s son Mostofa Kamal will also present in the occasion.
Nur Mohammad was born on February 26, 1936 at Mahiskhola Village in Narail Sadar upazila.
He joined the then East Pakistan Rifles (EPR), now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), on February 26, 1959.
Later, he took part in country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Pakistan army killed him on September 5, 1971 at Goalhati in Jashore. BGB Jashore region and Sharsha Upazila Administration will observe the day with various programmes.
