A highly educated young man of Bethuli village in Kaliganj upazila in Jhenidah has attained success in fish farming through bio-flock method. Least time and least cost effective farming has drawn the attraction of the people. It is likely to discriminate in surrounding areas within a short time, said the fisheries department officials.
Tanvir Hossain Prince, a young man of Bethuli village in Kaliganj said he constructed a total of 14 houses of 13 feet in length and three and a half feet in depth at his home premises. He filled up each of the houses with 10 thousand liters of water.
Air oxygen has been supplied through the pipes where 14 species of fish has been rearing. Each of the houses was linked with plastic pipe for smooth water movement every moment. About seven day labourers have been working in his fish farm.
Tanvir said passing masters degree in Rajshahi University he joined as a medical representative in 1996 when both of his parents went on retirement. He quiets the job and started serving in a private bank. He also left the job and decided to run business as his own will.
Managing some several lakh Taka, the young man established a cattle farm which ensured a profit for Taka five lakh in a year. Then he started rearing broiler chickens which also offered hi0m Taka three lakh in two years as net profit. The chickens offered about five thousand eggs a day, he said.
Abdullah Mohammad Saidur Rahman Reza, upazila fisheries officer (UFO) of Kaliganj in Jhenidah when contacted said bio-flock is a new method of fish farming with least cost and time saving. A few number of fish producers were encouraged to witness the farming.
“We are hopeful about the bio-flock fish farming in the area. The final result of yi0eld might assess the profit of the farming might say what is happening there, UFO said.
