Biman’s CEO affirms commitment to fairness

Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ new managing director and CEO, Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman affirmed the state-owned carrier’s commitment to strict compliance to rules and accountability at all level.

“No one involved in corruption will evade scrutiny,” he said while exchanging views with the members of the Aviation and Tourism Journalists' Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB) at Balaka, Biman’s headquarters in the capital on Wednesday.

"Everyone must adhere to the rules. No one can escape if they engage in corruption," he added. 

During the meeting, Rahman highlighted recent operational improvements of Biman and underlined the importance of maintaining ethical standards in the state-owned carrier’s operations. 

Rahman noted that Biman has a significant improvement in On-Time Performance (OTP) compared to previous months. 

He emphasized that strict monitoring and accountability have been ensured in all areas, from cabin crew to ground staff.

"We want Biman to progress, and that will contribute to the development of Bangladesh. Our responsibility is to create conducive environment for the next generation," he said. 

He also highlighted the need for transparency and free access to information as essential tools for fostering a corruption-free working environment.

ATJFB President Tanzim Anwar and General Secretary (acting) Baten Biplob also spoke on the occasion. 

The meeting underscored the need for Biman’s more engagement with media to ensure that accurate and timely information about its operation reaches to the public, reflecting the airline’s broader commitment to transparency.
