Bicycle rally held in Satkhira to create awareness on eco-protection

A bicycle rally was held in Satkhira town on Tuesday to create awareness among people about environmental protection. 

Youths took part in the bicycle rally arranged by non-governmental organisation BARCIK and the Education, Culture and Diversity Protection Team in the morning on the eve of the World Environment Day 2024.

The bicycle rally started from Satkhira Sadar Upazila Parishad premises and ended at Shahid Abdur Razzak Park through the intersection of Old Satkhira, Satkhira Government College, Post Office, Sadar Hospital, New Market and Tufan Company.

The participants of the bicycle rally carried placards reading 'Plant trees, save the environment', 'Floods, droughts and floods, cutting down trees is a disaster', 'Let's plant trees, prevent drought, warming and desertification', 'Plant trees, cool the hot air', 'One Earth, One chance', 'Save soil health, stop deforestation', 'Save reservoirs, stop water pollution', 'The key to survival, don't make a mistake in planting trees', 'We want a city of flowers, birds, trees and ponds', 'We can build a green world', etc.

Earlier in the morning, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shoaib Ahmad inaugurated the rally as the chief guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer Monir Hossain and Upazila Social Service Officer Sheikh Sahidur Rahman were present as guests. Gazi Mahida Mizan, associate programme officer of BARCIK, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamanna Parveen, members of Education, Culture and Diversity Protection Team, among others, addressed the programme.
