After more than a decade Bibi Russell to do a fashion show in Bangladesh at Radisson Blu and collaborate with a brand name ‘Magical threads’ today.
There she will be showing her collection together with House of Ahmed and spoke about Fashion for development, why she has chosen ‘Magical threads’.
Bibi said, “I would like to show the music and the incredible work of our crafts people. To show how one thread can be intertwined with another to create outstanding designs, which can only be created by the crafts people I want to show how this ‘Magic Threads’ can sustain economic survival through its creativity. My work represents how such outstanding creativity; design by these magic threads can uplift poverty with dignity.”
‘Fashion for development’ is an accurate description of my work, as all of my outfits are beautifully hand made by skilled craftsmen, whose art is unfortunately on the decline in an impoverished country.
My work not only shows our culture, heritage, the beautiful melodies of Bengal, also the joy in a positive way, in which I see in village people. That's why all my inspiration comes from the village people and I salute them. I hope you will enjoy celebrating 50 years of Bangladesh through ‘Magical Threads’ and also be proud of our incredible crafts people.
