Bhutan to import fertiliser from Bangladesh

Bhutan is keen to import fertilizer from Bangladesh. The Ambassador of Bhutan expressed interest in purchasing 2500 to 3000 tonnes of fertilizer from Bangladesh and sought the assistance of the Minister of Industries in this regard. 

Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Rinchen Kuentsyl meets Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the minister’s secretariat office in the capital on Tuesday.

In reply, the Industries Minister said that Bangladesh itself imports fertilizers. However, as a friendly country, arrangements will be made for Bhutan to send the required fertilizer from KAFCO at international prices.

To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed soon with the BCIC and the relevant authorities of Bhutan in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Industries Minister thanked Bhutan for its continued support during independence and promised to work together with Bhutan. 

Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Chairman Shah Mohammad Imdadul Haque, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Industries S Alam and Director of the South Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sahab Bin Ahmed were present on the occasion.
