Visitors are flocking to Thakurgaon’sBhulli Dam to enjoy Eid holidays. The water level of the dam and the view of the waterflow is like the waves of the sea here. Therefore, the visitors are enjoying the natural beauty of this dam.
Khoshbazar Madrasa is located 13 km north of Thakurgaon town on the Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway. Bhulli Dam is located at KumarpurBandhpara village in Balia Union, 1 km west of Madrasa.
In 1996, the Water Development Board built this dam on the Bhulliriver. Its purpose was to retain water upstream of the dam during the monsoon season and use it in crop lands during the dry season.
The dam has several level layers for the flow of water. Water flows downstream through these layers. The sound of water flowing during the rainy season is a lot like the roar of the sea.
That is why nature lovers are flocking here in groups during the rainy season. That is why the locals have named this dam ‘Mini Cox’s Bazar’. The visitors said that they have come here with their family to enjoy Eid. The environment here is a lot like Cox’s Bazar. That is why many people feel blessed to come here on Eid.
Locals and visitors demanded that the unpaved road be paved quickly to provide electricity connection and a restroom for visitors and riders for children.
Abdullah NirMamun, Upazila Executive Officer, said, “The view of Bhulli Dam is really captivating. Every year during the monsoon season, the view of the dam is amazing for four months.
For the safety of the visitors, a solar panel has already been installed there and 3 more panels will be installed later. LGED has also been given the responsibility to speed up the construction of the unpaved road here.
