Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods and drugs worth Tk 36 crore 80 lakh 39 thousand in a month-long operation in various parts of the country, including the border areas. During that time, 290 people, including an Indian national, were arrested on charges of involvement in drugs and smuggling.
This information was given in a circular on Wednesday signed by BGB public relations officer Md Shariful Islam.
The seized drugs include 5 lakh 89 thousand 343 pieces of yaba, 40 thousand 31 bottles of phensedyl, 3 thousand 825 bottles of foreign liquor, 360 cans of beer, one thousand 418 kg of cannabis, one kg 210 g of heroin, 9 thousand 125 stimulant injections, 2 285 Anegra / Senegra tablets and 1 lakh 36 thousand 600 other tablets.
Other smuggled items include 4 kg 540 g gold, 39 kg 720 g silver, 3,000 imitation jewelery, 25,965 cosmetics, 627 saris, 426 three-piece/shirts, 70 ready-made garments, one touchstone statue, one thousand 260 cubic feet of wood, 26 thousand 687 kg tea leaves, four trucks, three pickups, 10 CNG/engine driven auto rickshaws and 67 motorcycles. Also recovered were a gun, an LG and three rounds of ammunition.
