Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 1 kg and 793 grams of crystal meth (ice) that was hidden under the ground after conducting a drive in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
Captain of BGB Teknaf 2 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed said the drive was conducted in Naittong Para area under Teknaf municipality on Thursday midnight.
However, no smugglers could be detained as they fled the scene, he added.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin said BGB received information about drugs smuggled from Myanmar kept in an abandoned hut in Naittong para area under Teknaf municipality on Thursday midnight. Later, a team of BGB reached the spot and conducted a drive. When they surrounded the suspicious hut, two men fled from the hut sensing the presence of BGB members. Although the BGB members chased the duo, they were not able to catch them.
Later, they searched the hut and found 1 kg and 793 grams of crystal meth (ice) wrapped in nets from a hole after digging the ground in a corner of the room.
The recovered drugs are kept in BGB Battalion office, he said.
