Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a smuggler named Jahangir Alam (43) along with 12 kg of silver jewelery in Jibannagar of Chuadanga on Saturday morning.
A BGB team raided and arrested him along with his motorcycle in front of Islami Bank in Jibannagar municipal town. Assistant Director of Maheshpur-58 Battalion Nazrul Islam Khan confirmed the matter.
The BGB's Maheshpur-57 Battalion said in a press release that a six-member team led by Habildar Amirul Islam of Jibannagar BOP conducted the operation on the basis of intelligence information.
During the raid, Jahangir Alam alias Jhantu, son of Ashkar Ali, a smuggler identified from Natunpara village on the border, was arrested along with a motorcycle. He was arrested along with 11 kg 999 gm silver jewelery.
Shahin Alam, 22, son of Babul Miah of the same village and Zahurul Islam, 19, son of Golam Rasul escaped during the operation. The BGB handed over the case to the Jibannagar police station in the evening accusing Jahangir and two other foster children.
