BGB nabs 9 drug dealers with Yaba in Cox’s Bazar

The BGB raided Teknaf in Cox's Bazar and Naikangchhari in Bandarban and recovered 130,000 pieces of Yaba and arrested nine drug dealers. The BGB conducted the operation on Friday morning.

BGB Cox's Bazar 34 Battalion Commander Lt Col Mohammad Mehdi Hossain Kabir confirmed the news in a statement on Friday afternoon.

A team of Rejumatli BOP under BGB Cox's Bazar 34 Battalion raided an abandoned house at Chakmapara Kalajing Tila in Myanmar border area of Ghumdhum union under Naikhyangchhari upazila on Friday morning. The BGB patrol team dug a hole in the house and recovered 90,000 pieces of yaba. At the time, two tribal members, Lamangya Tongchangya (28) and Lataimang Tongchangya (38), were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the Yaba trade.

On the other hand, BGB Teknaf 2 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Sheikh Khalid Hossain Iftekhar said that a team from Teknaf BGB Damdamiya outpost conducted separate raids this morning in Kerantali area of Teknaf and Hnila area and seized 40,600 pieces of yaba and 9 drug dealers. The BGB also recovered stolen gold bars and Myanmar currency from them.

The BGB commander said that the arrested drug dealers were involved in human trafficking.
