Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested four drug dealers along with 340 bottles of Phensidyl in a search of a pickup van filled with guava at Jibannagar in Chuadanga. On Thursday evening, drug dealers including Phensidyl were arrested in a raid in Shakharia village of Jibannagar upazila. The arrested are Toran Mia, 22, son of Mashiur Rahman of Sadarpara village in Jibannagar upazila, Rana Ahmed, 35, son of Abdul Wahab of Manikganj district, Billal Hossain, 20, son of Saifuddin Ali of Vangriin village in the same district and Rajab Ali, 30, son of Khasta Mia.
Assistant Director Mohammad Saiful Islam on behalf of the BGB's Maheshpur-57 Battalion Commander confirmed the matter to media personnel in a press release at 11am on Friday. According to the press release, the patrol team of Natunpara BOP under Maheshpur-57 Battalion raided the paved road at Shakharia village of Jibannagar upazila, 2,000 yards inside Bangladesh, from Pillar No. 84 of the border on Thursday evening.
A pickup van full of guava was searched and 340 bottles of Phensidyl were recovered. And four drug traffickers were arrested. The arrested drug dealers have been handed over to Jibannagar police station.
