The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Jhenaidah frontier is quite hopeful about getting back the bullet-hit body of Bangladeshi cattle trader even after eight days of gunning him down. To resolve this issue, a fruitful discussion is being held between the BGB and their counterpart border security force (BSF) of India.
The BGB went on hardline to detect the mastermind running the illegal cattle and other business illegally in the bordering and bring them in books when a number of men involved in carrying out the orders of their mastermind for bringing cattle heads and other items from neighboring India.
Ariful Islam, 28, son of late Afijuddin of village Shyamkur in bordering Moheshpur police
station in Jhenaidah was reportedly gunned down in the night of February 7 last.
BGB sources said they were somehow informed that some Ariful Islam and five to six others had entered in to Indian Territory through Laraighat border outpost in the night of Tuesday. The BSF personnel of Pakhiura camp near Omarpur had opened fire targeting the Bangladesh people. Ariful Islam sustained bullet injury and succumbs to his bullet injuries on the spot.
Later the bordering village people witnessed the body of Ariful Islam in the field, he was told.
Bordering Shyamkur union parishad (UP) chairman Jamirul Haque when contacted said he was informed by the locals that Ariful Islam was gunned down at Pakhiura camp area in the morning of Wednesday he was returning with cattle heads.
Locals had witnessed the bullet hit body at Pakhiura camp area till Wednesday noon. UP chairman said another cattle trader Amir Hossasin, son of Kalu Mia of Shyamkur Colonypara was also gunned down by the BSF in January last year.
The Police Bureau of investigation (PBI) had investigated the matter, while the wife of the deceased had withdrawn the case, UP chairman said.
BGB 58 camp commander Lieutenant Colonel Masud Parvez Rana when contacted said that the high level discussion between the BGB and BSF so that the body might be sent back when the Indian authorities were completing the legal process and procedures at an early time when eight days was already passed.
The BGB official said They (BGB) has been trying to detect the mastermind running the illegal cattle and other business illegally in the bordering and bring them in books. A number of men involved in carrying out the orders of their mastermind for bringing cattle
heads and other items from neighboring India.
If the mastermind are detected and brought in books, this sort of unauthorized killing incident as well as illegal trade of cattle heads, gold, drugs, trafficking will be reduced. They will not compromise at any cost, determines Lieutenant Colonel Masud Parvez Rana.
