Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members of Moheshpur frontier in Jhenaidah detained seven Bangladeshi nationals including four children while trying to trespass into Indian borders with the help of brokers on Tuesday evening.
They were nabbed from a maize plot at Hathatpara village in bordering Mohashpur upazila of Jheniadah. However, they could not nab the brokers involved at the time.
BGB-58 Battalion Assistant Director Nazrul Islam Khan quoting the Battalion Director lieutenant colonel Qamrul Ahsan said they received information that some brokers gathered some people in the maize plot to smuggle them into Indian border.
Upon receiving the information, BGB members detained Kamal Hossain, 44, Jesmin Akter, 35, Senuara Khatun, 13 and Mehedi Hasan, 11, Yasin, 8, Abdur Rahim, 38 and Mitu Khatun, 11 from the area.
The BGB official said that the detainees were attempting to trespass into Indian territory without minimum papers with help of the brokers.
BGB men handed over the detainees to Moheshpur Police Station after filing cases against them under passport act.
