BGB detains 5 with Yaba in Cox’s Bazar

The BGB raided the Karbunia border area of Ukhia upazila in Cox's Bazar and detained five people with 790,000 pieces of yaba.

This information was given at a press briefing at the office of BGB Ramu Sector Commander on Saturday at noon by Cox's Bazar BGB 34 Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Md. Mehdi Hossain Kabir. 

He said that after conducting a raid at midnight on April 22, they searched the house of Iqbal Hossain, a top drug dealer in Karbunia area and first arrested four people including 50,000 yaba. The detainees are, Jaliapalang Pineashia Charpara son of the late Kabir Ahmed. Mahbub (30), Iqbal Hossain's wife Sufia Sultana Sumi (26), Ali Ahmed's wife Fatema Begum (65) and Chakbaitha West Dighinala Md. Kalu Mia's son Md. Rafiq Ullah.

Later, during their interrogation, another 7 lakh yaba was recovered in Rejupara area. Besides, another member of his syndicate said. Rafiq Alam was detained along with 40,000 yaba from Gorjanbunia border.

He further said that the consignment was coming to yaba mainly targeting Eid.

Note that this is the highest shipment of yaba recovered by BGB in the same operation since 2019.
