BGB Director General Major General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui addressed concerns about rumours circulating regarding St. Martin Island. He dismissed the rumours about St. Martin Island as baseless.
He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after attending the closing parade of the 101st recruit batch of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Baitul Izzat in Chattogram on Thursday morning.
Siddiqui emphasised that BGB is committed to safeguarding the country's integrity at all costs. He assured that Bangladesh will not be adversely affected by internal troubles in Myanmar, and measures such as altering shipping routes from Inani have been taken to avoid risky areas.
The BGB Director General also mentioned ongoing joint operations in the hills of Thanchi and Ruma in Bandarban, stressing that these efforts will continue until complete security is ensured in those areas, in coordination with government and rebel groups.
