Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Omar Faruque on Tuesday demanded the formation of a special tribunal to try the miscreants involved in the vandalism and arson attacks on the state establishments during quota reforms movement across the country.
"A total of four journalists died and 218 journalists were injured in attacks by miscreants during the quota reforms movement," he said in a protest rally of Dhaka Union of journalist (DUJ) in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
DUJ President Sohel Haider Chowdhury presided over the meeting while BFUJ Secretary General Dip Azad, DUJ General Secretary Akhter Hossain, among others, spoke on the occasion.
BFUJ Treasurer Khairuzzaman Kamal, DUJ former presidents Kuddus Afrad, senior journalists Manik Lal Ghosh, Jayanta Acharjee, Jahangir Khan Babu and Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury, among others, were present at the meeting.
Sohel Haider Chowdhury demanded compensation for the dead and injured journalists and protection of journalists.
The leaders observed a one-minute silence in memories of the victims.
