The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) General Secretary, Emran Hossain Tushar, has voiced his frustration over the challenges faced in arranging preparatory matches for the women's national team ahead of their title defence at the SAFF Women's Championship in Nepal this October.
Despite ambitious plans to play six warm-up games, the BFF has only managed to secure four – two at home against Chinese Taipei in June and two away in Bhutan last month. Financial constraints have prevented the federation from organizing any further matches this month.
"We're still exploring the possibility of arranging friendlies outside the FIFA window," Imran told reporters on Monday. "We've approached several federations but haven't received any positive responses."
With a busy schedule ahead, Imran emphasized the need for government or sponsor support to facilitate additional preparation matches. "Between September and October, we'll be juggling six tournaments," he explained. "Any financial assistance would make a significant difference."
The BFF spokesman also confirmed that the women's team's salary deal has been extended to October. Addressing recent media reports about unpaid wages, Imran clarified that the players had requested a meeting with the BFF president to discuss the matter. "We've extended the deal until the end of October, coinciding with the president's term," he stated.
