The deadline of players’ registration of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football was set for August 19 but most of the clubs were in trouble for the political situation in the country and could not complete the formalities.
Meanwhile, the top ranking clubs s like Abahani, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Sheikh Russell Krirachakra and newly promoted Fortis Football Academy were vandalised following the ouster of the previous government on August 5. Later, they decided to refrain from participating in the league this season. Chittagong Abahani, another club with close links with the former government, is also facing financial crisis and lack of decision-making from the high-ups.
Under these circumstances, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), requested to for extension the time and the FIFA earlier rejected the request and after further application agreed to extend the pre-season transfer window for three days.
But it is very confused how much a three-day extension of the transfer deadline will help clubs complete their formalities remains it’s very much.
Meanwhile, the inter-club players’ transfer started from June 1. Although FIFA has a guideline on the players’ transfer period and if any organisation wants to extend the transfer time, would have to do with the permission of FIFA.
There have also a transfer window for 3-4 weeks of the professional football league after the first leg. BFF requested FIFA to extend the time cancelling the window time but the world football governing body did not permit the BFF.
General Secretary of FIFA said that this three-day increase would not be deducted from the interim transfer period, “In the context of the unavoidable situation, FIFA allowed us three days as a special consideration.”
The player registration process is used globally on one platform. No extra time is provided after the specified time. No-objection letter is required for foreign footballers in case of player registration. All the formalities of the players’ transfer have to be done during the time frame approved by FIFA.
