Benapole municipality yesterday announced a proposed budget of Tk 54 crore 40 lakh for the fiscal year 2020-2021. Benapole Customs Commissioner Belal Hossain Chowdhury was the chief guest in the budget meeting.
Announcing the proposed budget at the municipality auditorium, Mayor Asraful Alam Liton said that the budget was a development-oriented one aiming at providing better civic facilities to the people of the town.
No new tax has been imposed in the budget but Benapole municipality is determined to realise arrears, the mayor said. According to the budget, Tk 6 crore 36 lakh will come from revenue earning while the rest Tk 48 crore 4 lakh will be provided by the government as grant to meet the development expenditure.
Tk 18 crore has been earmarked for construction and renovation of roads, Tk 15 crore for improving drainage and water supply, Tk 19 lakh for sanitary project, Tk 2 crore for reconstruction of bridges and culverts, Tk 4 crore for construction of community centre .
Benapole municipality mayor Asraful Alom Liton presided over the budget announcement meeting. Special guest Customs joint commissioner sahidul Isla and Deputy Commissioner Pavej Alom chowdhury were present.
