Customs officials seized 15 high-quality mobile phones hidden in a fancy hand bandage from a Bangladeshi passenger returning from India.
The mobile phones, which were being smuggled without paying any sort of taxes, were seized from the Benapole Customs checkpoint on Monday night.
Benapole Customs House Joint Commissioner Abdul Rashid Mia said that officers received a secret information that a passenger frequently smuggles a large number of mobile phones without paying tax from India in a hand bandage. Upon receiving such information, the customs officials were able to seize 15 valuable mobile phones hidden inside his handbag.
The accused Mohammad Sanaullah is son of Nurul Amin of Samia Para area in Satkania upazila of Chittagong district. His passport number is EF-0061936. Various other luxury products worth around Tk 7 lakh were seized from his luggage, officials said.
The goods has been deposited at Benapole Customs House. A departmental case has been registered in this regard.
