Benapole check-post collects Tk 26.76cr revenue

Revenue collection at Benapole International check-post has increased in the blockade snd hartal time according to the land port sources. 

Because, the number of India going passengers has increased even during the blockads and hartal called by the BNP, Jamaat a nd their allies.

In the last three months, revenue of Tk 26 crore 76 lakh 30 thousand 73 has been collected by the customs authority from travel tax and spot tax.

At the direction of Benapole Customs House Commissioner Abdul Hakim revenue has increased by stopping illegal baggage parties and illegal opportunities for smugglers at the customs international check post.

Besides, according to the baggage rules, passengers can also take additional goods with spot tax.

It has also been able to reduce the free movement of outsiders or brokers.

It has increased both passenger service and safety.

Khulna passport traveler Rehena Akhter said, travelling through Benapole Check post to India is now easy.

Earlier passengers were harassed in various ways.

Harassment of ordinary passport-holding passengers has reduced somewhat. However, the activity of the luggage party has increased. 

Every day, the customs officers seize a huge amount of illegal goods from the luggage parties.

Benapole Customs House Deputy Commissioner Othello Chowdhury said, in the last 3 months, Benapole check post has collected a revenue of Tk 25 crore 70 lakh 64 thousand from travel tax and Tk 1 crore 5 lakh 66 thousand 73 from spot tax.

Accordingly, a total of 26 crore 76 lakh 30 thousand 73 taka Tax has been collected.

Huge number of illegal goods were also seized. The seized products include saree, pieces, cosmetics products, blankets, pressure cookers, rice cookers, and medicines.

Benapole Customs House Commissioner Abdul Hakim said, “We are trying to stop smuggling by luggage parties at Benapole International Customsc Checkpost. Every day smuggled goods are seized from luggage parties and huge revenue is collected. Instructions have been issued so that no general passenger is subjected to harassment and suffering.”
