Tim Burton's sequel, ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, continues to excel at the box office, maintaining its position for nearly three weeks. As it heads into its fourth weekend, the film has topped the charts for 18 consecutive days, only losing one day to 'Transformers One'.
The film is expected to earn around $30 million this weekend, bringing its global total to approximately $365-370 million. Domestic sales are driving much of this success, particularly among families who enjoyed the original 1988 film and are now sharing it with their children and grandchildren.
'The Wild Robot' is projected to debut with around $20 million, landing in a strong second place behind ‘Beetlejuice’. In contrast, Francis Ford Coppola's 'Megalopolis' is anticipated to earn only $5-10 million, likely making it a non-factor in future box office discussions.
Family films have been the backbone of this year's box office success, especially animation and films with animated elements. The popularity of titles like ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ and ‘Inside Out 2’ has kept audiences engaged and returning for more.
‘Beetlejuice’ fits well into this trend with its vibrant visuals and family-friendly tone. With projections indicating it could surpass $400 million by the end of its run, it remains a favourite. However, with the arrival of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ on October 4th, ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ will soon face fierce competition. For now, the film reigns supreme at the box office.
