Superintendent of police (SP) in Jhenaidah Hasanuzzaman inaugurated the beat policing office at Kabirput Tinrasta, the main intersection to the entrance of Shailkupa municipal town. The office was inaugurated aiming at providing services to the common people at their doorsteps round the clock.
The police in Jhenaidah have so far had set up a total of 85 beat police offices in the district. Presided over by officer in charge (OC) of Shailkupa police station Jahangir Hossain, SP Hasanuzzaman attended as chief guest.
In his speech SP Hasanuzzaman said the aim of the beat policing office was to ensure service to the grassroots level people at their homestead so that it might reduce the sufferings of the common and innocent people in the police stations.
The office at Kabirpur intersection will play role in curbing terrorism, movement of hoodlums including eve teasers, reckless motorbike drivers, excessive load on motorbikes, and unauthorized parking of vehicles on roads and road sides.
SP said as Shailkupa is one of the crime-prone area in the district, the office will also help reduce the village clash among the innocent people instigated by local interested village leaders and political willful people. They have so far set up a total of 85 beat policing offices including 17 in Shailkupa upazila.
SP Hasanuzzaman said, ‘Since the inception of policemen in the department as the law enforcing agency and the real friends to the people, they had been serving for the people maintaining law and order for centuries together.’
The chief guest said the police men as guided by the inspector general of police (IGP) in Bangladesh is instructed by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ensure services to the people in both rural and urban to stand by them round the clock. The service providers will not care for money; rather serve staying at the grassroots level. Now the police are meant for the wellbeing of the people, not for the influential persons.
He had advised the police men to discharge their duties without any favour considering their promise for community services. Setting up of beat policing office will reduce rush in the police stations as well as sufferings of the people day by day.
The police man informed, a sub inspector (SI), an assistant sub inspector (ASI) and three constables will attend in the office, while in-charge (OC) of the police stations (thana) will be accountable for maintaining law and order in respective area.
Police will become the real friends to the people and show zero tolerance to the criminals without any hesitation. Negligence in duty will not be entertained any way, SP warned.
