Beanpole post activities stopped following terrorist attack

A least four port labourers were injured as a group of terrorists attacked Benapole Port bypass road on Monday afternoon.

Hundreds of labors stopped all types of cargo loading, unloading and delivery of goods from the port up to 2.00 PM protesting the terrorist attack. The port labourers staged demonstration in front of port.

The injured were identified as Kalam Hossain, 34, son of Deen Mohammad of Kharaidanga village of Benapole Port Police Station, Dulu Mia, 40, son of Jan Ali of Raghunathpur village, Shariful Islam 38, son of Mizan Ali of Daulatpur village and Shamem, 42, son of Babul.

The injured labour Dulu said he and his associates went to bypass road for loading and unloading the imported stones. At that time, a group of terrorists came to the spot and attacked the workers by local sharp weapons and vendalized two motorcycles. The locals rescued the injured workers and sent them to Navaron Hospital.

Police raided Dighirpar village around noon and arrested Raihan, 25, son of Rahman of the village.

Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Thana, and others visited the spot. They tried to calm down the angry workers. Mamun Khan said a case has been filed with  Benapole Port Police Station in this connection.
