Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has come forward to help the helpless and distressed fishermen and low-income people affected by the impact of Cyclone Amphan in the Sundarbans and adjoining areas in Koyra of Khulna.
Bottles of potable water along with relief items were distributed among 1500 families of South Bedkashi, North Bedkashi and Maharajpur Union of Koyra Upazila on Wednesday through BCG station Koyra under Bangladesh Coast Guard West Zone. The Coast Guard also distributed 102 bundles of corrugated tin to various affected families in Nalian and Koyra on Wednesday.
It is to be noted that the Coast Guard West Zone is in the process of making boats and nets for the distribution of wooden boats and fishing nets among the marginalized fishing families in the Sundarbans which will be distributed very soon.
The Coast Guard will continue its public service activities among the helpless and distressed people in the Sundarbans and adjoining areas in the event of an overall cyclone situation in the country in future as well.
