Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) South Zone conducted two separate drives in Bhola on Monday and detained a terrorist and a robber, along with two locally made firearms, seven rounds of ammunition and a large amount of locally made weapons.
The detainees were identified as Md Kamal, 50 and Mosleh Uddin, 56.
Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi confirmed the matter on Monday.
He said for quite some time, it has been reported that a notorious gang led by Mohammad Kamal and a terrorist group led by Mosleh Uddin have been extorting, occupying land, and committing various crimes along the Meghna River and adjacent chars in the Tulatali and Eilisha areas of the Bhola district by holding local residents and fishermen hostage.
When the affected local residents sought help from the Coast Guard, they increased their intelligence operations in those areas. Acting on information, members of Bangladesh Coast Guard and Bangaldesh Police, led by BCG base under Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone, conducted two separate drives in the Rari Bari area under the South Digholdi Union and near the Eilisha Bazar area of Bhola district from approximately 12:30 AM to 3:30 AM on Monday. Two separate houses were searched during the operation and Md Kamal and Mosleh Uddin were detained with two locally made firearms, seven rounds of ammunition and a large amount of locally made weapons. He also said the two detainees are residents of the Bhola Sadar Upazila. Later, they were handed over to Bhola Sadar Model Police Station along with all the seized evidence.
