Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested four active members of the notorious Belayet robber gang from Bhola on Monday. Two local firearms, two cartridges, and four locally made weapons were recovered during the drive.
The detainees are identified as Md Belayet Hossain, Sheikh Farid, Md Kamal, and Md Al Amin.
Media Officer of BCG Headquarters, Lt Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, confirmed the matter through a press release on Monday.
He said acting on a tip-off, BCG Base Bhola under Southern Zone of BCG and Bangladesh Police conducted a joint drive from 2.30am to 5.00am on Monday at no. 5 Bapta union in Bhola sadar upazila. Four notorious criminals named Md Belayet Hossain, Sheikh Farid, Md Kamal, and Md Al Amin were detained, along with two local firearms, two live cartridges, and four locally made weapons, during the drive.
The detained criminals, led by Belayet Hossain, have reportedly been involved in various illegal activities, including extortion and land grabbing, for a long time. Besides, there are multiple cases against Belayet Hossain, including murder and extortion, he added.
The detained terrorists, along with the seized weapons, cartridges, and all related evidence, were handed over to Bhola sadar police station.
